River Esk and Muncaster Castle – 9km Walk Guide

This was a 4 hour walk around the village of Ravenglass. It would be a nice walk for those with dogs, they’ll be off the lead a great part of the way. I used the Ordnance Survey Map 0L6 (The English Lakes, South Western Area), and its best to take that map, as the route isn’t always clear. You start the walk at Ravenglass Campsite itself. Walk along a footpath that leads into woods opposite the campsite for 5 minutes, to the village of Ravenglass itself and then along it’s small high street. At the end of the street…

Drigg Dunes and Beach – 11km Walk & Film

This is a walk along the Drigg Dune system, which is near Ravenglass, as wild a piece of dunes and beach as you’ll find in England I think. There are also opportunities for good sea swimming. I used the Ordnance Survey Map 0L6 (The English Lakes, South Western Area) to guide me to the start point, a car park near the sea, but once on the dunes and beach, there’s no need for a map. First, here’s a short film that I made during the trek. I set off from the Ravenglass Camping and Caravanning…

Steam Train to Eskdale & back – 12km Walk, Wild Swim & Film

This is a lovely route, travelling up into the Eskdale Valley from the coast by steam train, and back over the fells by foot. I used the Ordnance Survey Map 0L6 (The English Lakes, South Western Area) to guide me, I think it would be very tough to find your way without it. First, here’s a short film that I made during the train ride and trek. I set off from the Ravenglass Camping and Caravanning Club campsite where I was staying for a week and headed down the footpath to the village train…

Ravenglass CCC Campsite, Cumbria, England

We stayed at the Camping and Caravanning Club’s Ravenglass Campsite for 6 nights whilst we hiked the Mosedale Horseshoe, explored more of Eskdale and the coast and ran the Karrimor Great Trail Marathon in Keswick. Before we go into details, here’s a short film that I made on arriving at the Campsite. It’s not meant to be a glossy film showing the site at it’s best, just an honest first impression on what the average visitor might encounter on arrival in the campsite. Location The Ravenglass Campsite is easy to…
